selves, from the land of Tortall, created by Tamora Pierce.
Below is her profile.

the "k" she changed the meaning of her name from
"quiet song" to "hoof-sister".

History
People: Bazhir
Tribe: The "Windwalkers" Very forward-looking.
Two shamans, with two apprentices, one of which is female.
Known for the quality of their horses.
Place of Birth: Corus. Her parents had traveled
there to see the Voice, and not considering snow, got stuck and
she was born in a snowy cityscape.
Home Country: Great Southern Desert, Tortall.
Parents: Fatima and Selim Fahrar. They are
both very understanding and she left with their good wishes.
Her father, Selim, is one of the tribe's two shamans
Sibling: Halif, her older brother. The other
shaman of the tribe. They were always close siblings, and
he secretly taught her to shoot a bow at age 11.
Birth Day: three days after the first of spring.
Why at inn?:
Ari grew up listening to tales of Alanna and
always wanted to be like her. She was disappointed when
it turned out that she had no Gift, for her forward-looking tribe
would have let her father, the head shaman, train her up.
She felt she had let them down.
At sixteen, after an interesting life [described
below] she was told it was time to grow up and think about a
husband. This idea repelled her, and indeed, she couldn't
think of any part of the tribe that she fit in anymore.
She decided to leave the tribe and seek work in Corus.
She told her brother, like she told him everything. He
approved, and told Kari- as she was called then- to tell her
parents. They approved, to her surprise. The tribe
being a close one, soon everyone knew. Most of the tribe
was fine with her leaving- she'd always seemed different.
Those who objected were soon overruled.
On the morning of her departure, Halif gave
her a horse, a mare she named Windswept. After a tearful
farewell with her beloved brother, Karima Fahrar rode off.
As she rode to Corus, she realized that she was free of the tribe,
and could change her name. She decided to call herself
Arima Aterrih. That night, she turned all her bulky skirts
into lose pants, so she could ride "like a man."
Now, she was free.
After a journey of two weeks, Arima came to
Corus. It was snowing, and much colder than she thought
the world could get. She chose a random inn and entered.
Over the door, the sign said The Divine Realms.
Other
Occupation: Sells beadwork to support herself while
she finds a job in Corus.
Ambitions / Daydreams: Wants to work with horses
in any way possible. Right now, wants to become a palace
hostler. Like most teenage girls, she dreams of romance.
She also dreams of having the Gift, like her father and brother.
Favorite Color: copper
Companions: her mare, Windswept. [chocolate brown,
w/a flaxen mane and tail.]
Strengths & Flaws: She's quite competent with
a bow, and with horses and generally a caring person. She
has almost no temper, which is good and bad- if she hasn't made
up her mind she can be walked all over, but she can be obstinate.
She's a bit short-sighted and didn't really plan this trip well.
She also has a bit of a height issue- as everyone told her she
was "too long-legged to make a pretty girl."
However, this does mean that she was always the fastet runner
in the tribe.
Magic: She has some wild magic- what the K'mir call
"horse-hearted."
